Go beyond the pitch, and really learn what makes a startup amazing!
The Amazing Startup was born of a simple observation: startups keep making the same mistakes over and over when it comes to launching their product/service. With YouTube as its platform, The Amazing Startup invokes the know-how of industry experts to answer the questions faced by every startup, mentor today’s entrepreneurs, and, ultimately, spark critical discussion and education about how to succeed.
On The Amazing Startup, the top 10 applicants will present their business situation, including background information, the problem being solved, and their current business, technical, and design strategies. Our panel of experts will help each startup determine which area of their business will unlock the most growth potential, and offer their industry experience to provide actionable insights. At the end of each episode, our experts will score the startup on their potential to succeed. Some of the categories include Novelty, Feasibility, Scalability, and Social Impact.
While constructive criticism and advice is the main focus, the competition will still be intense, as there are some serious prizes up for grabs. In hopes to do their part and give back to the community, sponsors have donated a myriad of products and tools that can jumpstart a business. Most of all, the startup that emerges on top will be given a warm-intro to a top NYC accelerator, which has the potential to nurture a young team of entrepreneurs into the next powerhouse company.
Startup culture is strong in the entertainment industry. We all know about Shark Tank, Small Empires, or HBO’s Silicon Valley. But these shows only focus on how to pitch to a venture capitalist, highlight already successful company, or poke fun at a fictionalized startup. Rarely does Mark Cuban and his fellow “Sharks” ever give their guests any sound, actionable advice, but they only crack jokes and squabble over equity percentages. Unlike these offerings, The Amazing Startup seeks to provide valuable feedback for entrepreneurs who need to know what it takes to reach the next stage on their path to success. On the other hand, to take a leaf from Small Empires, The Amazing Startup will put as much emphasis as possible on the enlightening stories and personal anecdotes from both the panel of experts and the startups themselves.
“The Amazing Startup is like Shark Tank, but totally changes the environment into a supportive, comfortable place where entrepreneurs can build ideas together. If you’re going into a hostile environment, those aren’t really the people you want to be on your side. The Amazing Startup is built of people you absolutely want on your side and allows for the biggest ideas to come to life.”
